Ride review....
Well first thoughts were HOLY DF#$#*! i can drop down the rocks and not feel like i'm going to die due to the front shock digging in.
Tyres were better then expected
The whole bike was really smooth going over any bumps whats so ever in the DH setting on rear shock.
The HT setting made it much easier uphill on the fire trail sections.
the XC setting i wasn't sure where to use, probably single trail that's bumpy but not technical so didn't really use that. next time :)

the traction contol mode (xc as you called it) should be your most commonly used setting, you should even use that for climbing as it is designed to keep the rear wheel on the ground at all times... give it a go you will still climb like a mountain goat... i would use the lockout mode for really steep fire trail and for road use. Certainly for any technical climbing the XC mode is the master.

glad that you liked it, your riding will really improve with this upgrade... congratulations... look forward to seeing the action shots...

It was a good ride, especially to test out the new bike. And the best way to improve is to ride with fitter/faster/better riders and push yourself a bit to try and match them. It hurts a little at first but it's worth it. :)

The front one was taken care of at yellowmundee on tuesday haha courtesy of a rock! mofo flew up hit the front reflector and snapped it off.

check the bike your riding Mark, last time i looked it was a MOUNTAIN bike :D :D :D

What tyres do they run? you may just need to put the pressures up as it will be quite slow with 30-35psi in them. I normally run about 60psi for road riding

yeah i think I had a lower PSI but going to get a valve to put on the stupid presta ones you get lol

I KNOW what type of bike it is mate. I just don't like the bush at night. not real well lit you know :)

currently sitting in at the lbs waiting for a brake line. Got some Avid Elixir R's from Tommo on the damn cheap side (thanks mate) and they are an awesome brake! unfortunately the rear line isn't long enough to fit into the cable run so had to get another one and ppl don't keep them on the shelf! :(

Still waiting on an Avid Elixir R brake cable.....you won't want ot brake one as your bike will be out of action for weeks! :(

So while waiting for those......I ended up getting more parts....I know i know.....rebuilding the thing. but hey, modifying is an expression of who you are right! :)

Luckily i didn't pay the retail on the bike, and the parts are damn cheap coming from CRC so it all works out I guess

dude i think scott runs 31.6mm seatpost dia. and not 26.8mm? You better check on that....

some heavier hitting scotts also use 34.9mm

After a quick google the seat post for the genius 50 is a RC 03-60 which is a 34.9mm

I hope for Kirky's sake I'm incorrect

my scale runs a 34.9mm. it is the only thing i dislike about my scale.
you can get a shim if necessary to fix the sizing issue.

take the current post out and check for markings.
any issues help is probably only a shim (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=820) away

best to google 34.9mm seat posts. its silly but thats the only scott problem you should ever have

well the Chain rings are new!

apparently i'd worn out my middle ring, which was causing the chain to loop up to the top and kept jamming up the cranks while i was riding (almost caused an acco twice)

so i replaced that with the RACEFACE TEAM set....pretty :)

I am also sporting a new SRAM CHAIN & CASSETTE.....almost nothing original left of the drive line or Shimano

Havne't ridden much of late (the fixie gets more) but took it to Majura Pines last week when I had to work in ACT and had a spin. Hoping to do some more comps and riding this year (going tubeless this week)
