There has been talk of it today but nobody hus begun organising it yet so here it is.

When do people wanna do this epic ride around Manly Dam. I know its been raining but it wont stop us from organising it.

I prefer Sundays as i dont work but Saturdays are ok provided its not my turn to work.

Lets get this organised as i am psyched to get out to the Dam :D

How about:

Sat 20th June
Sun 21st June
Sat 27th June
Sun 28th June

See if you can put up a poll Brad?? :)

I know it's a few weeks away (3 weeks) but it gives people plenty of time to organise and ensure they're available.

weekdays are a definite no for me as unlike most of you guys i work lol

Justin, can we add a poll or does this forum not have the option. If not, how does Sunday June the 7th sound for everyone?

I will probably head out tomorrow to be honest but obviously its nowhere near enough time to organise an "EPIC" ride :D

I assumed that! No chance on a weekend for me and I got the next friday off due to something stupid. Looking to do something on the 4 day weekend. Mondays good (queens birthday)

Being carless sucks.

i've done a timed lap at 45 mins. 2nd lap was over an hour with a group of us. depends if you want to go stop go stop or just have a half way stop

yeah group rides tend to take close to an hour due to the stop starts

I think i read on either RB or nobmob that the rangers are cracking down on illegal access to the BB area too.

whats the BB area? Is that the spot on the other side of the road?

Epic as in lots of riders i guess :) I guess the dam is short enough to allow some to head off on a decent paced lap and catch the slower riders on the second lap :D

I am averaging 45 minutes at the moment

Yeah laps do get boring, but there aren't enough point to point rides that i can think of.

This is true. Stay of BB.

From Nobmob -

Just a heads up from a conversation I had with NPWS rangers this arvo.
It seems that illegal riding at Bantry Bay continues and they have had 'ministerial complaints' about riders on the Aboriginal carvings there.
Due to this they are going to have to fence (chain link was mentioned) and block off more access into this area.
Yet more time and money wasted on these measures that could be better spent on other things. I cannot say more here (and please do not ask), but there are glimmers of hope for riders in National Parks (one only has to look to Glenrock to see times are changing).
So come on, do the right thing, eh?

Apparently rain expected for rest of the week.

It's just manly isnt the best when it comes to drainage. I am sure we can ride other tracks though.

Yeah, after all the recent rain the Dam will need a good run of solid sunny/windy days to dry out properly.

No Dam this weekend -

As we've discussed, this really shouldn't need saying. But for those who can't make their own mind up here it is from the rangers:
The mountain bike trail at Manly Dam is CLOSED due to the recent rain and wet track conditions. The track is completely waterlogged and runoff from the catchment is further adding to the problem. We'll send out a note when we've reopened, but please be aware that it most likely that the trail will be closed until next week.
Please spread the word to others.
Anyone wishing to be added to the mailing list can email us at: mtbiketrailinfo@warringah.nsw.gov.au
Thanks again for your cooperation.
