Anyone know if I can put 1" Continental Grand Prix MTB tyres on Sun Mach 4 rims? I measured the width of the rim on the outside and it's pretty close to 1", can't find the specs. online. I've read that you shouldn't run a tyre the same width as your rim, so should I go safe and get 1.2" tyres?
Any suggestions? Thanks

In short yes you can.
But... you do run the risk of rolling the tyre bead out even at high pressures. I know by experience. Not the whole tyre just a small section. It just made the tyre look swollen at that area.
so... I suggest not.

Thanks Gekigengar
I was talking to my LBS Inner City Cycles, Glebe, and the guy said it would be fine ~
I could get 1.125s to be on the safe side or 1.2s - at the moment I have 1.5s.
What do you think, 1.125s?

1.25 should be fine.
If something does happen report back here and let us know!

They are actually 1.125, i thought this was an unusual width but I doubled checked with wiggle.co.uk first and it's the actual size. I'll let you know how I go.
