Beyond parody.

My GF is from a small but quite affluent town about 2 hrs north of LA. There are a fair few hollywood types that live there. They have a segway club. They dress up in sports clothes, ride along a bike path to a coffee shop, stuff themselves on venti frappacinos and chocolate cake, then ride home. None of them looked to be less than 120kg or under 50.

^^ Thats 9/10's of the truth there. I tend to hate these Segways, but they do have a very good use. Thought they are not officially legal in Australia from what I've been told, I know a guy who has one in Sydney as he is disabled (muscular dystrophy) so was able to personally import and legally own one. It allows him to get out amongst it and travel great distances without any trouble, which is really cool. Funnily enough he is also a science/physics boffin (read: genius), so would fit in very well with the 'gang' in the above video i posted. :D

As for them as a fashion craze, I would almost rather see fixies clogging up the footpaths/cafes/trails than these damn things!

I vote Lorday for redundant post of the year for stating that something was way cooler than a segway. Might as well say 'check out this, it exists'.
