Yeah very interesting. Good move by SC to counter the seeming success of the 160mm travel 2010 Ibis Mojo HD...

http://www.feedthehabit.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/MojoHD-SideViewL600.jpg

No doubt SC will be able to churn out more Nomads than Ibis can with the HD (they don't have a great track record with their Mojo in this regard).

BTW here is the "Semi-official carbon nomad thread" (http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?p=6560587) on MTBR.

High fiber diet plan. Love it!

It looks nice enough. Hopefully they don't break during demo rides like that BLT2 at Interbike??

Hopefully it means that the aluminium frame prices come down too.

Love the idea but in all honesty (and this is coming from a VPP/EVP fan), for the dosh i'd probably look at a Mojo HD instead... if you can obtain one.

Are we to presume the geo is the same as the current al version?

It looks fantastic, but i wish they went back to the VPP1 pivot placements. VPP2 isn't as plush. :(

Jing
01-04-10, 05:08 PM
i heard a lot is to do with the setup. With vpp2 apparently u can run more sag than vpp1 which gives you similar plushness but still tightens up more when you put down the power and provides less feedback.

i would have a hard time picking white or black to be honest lol

With a CCDB rear shock and 30% sag (same as VPP1 Nomad) it feels nice on everything except small bump stuff where it's crap. At 40% sag it just feels wrong, especially climbing. Same with a DHX coil shock. That's obviously just the way it felt to me. For others it's going to feel how they want it. But some people like single pivots too!

Definitely white.

I wish Pivot made the Firebird a nicer looking bike like the Nomad, but kept it's performance how it is.

Sorry mate. :)

Get a Nomad or Firebird or Mojo or Spitfire or other multilink bike and turn the Heckler into a race bike! But once you get used to the bigger bike you'll probably want a multilink race bike as well. ;)

Totems are too much fork for the Nomad if you want to climb with it but are obviously great for going down. Did you manage to chat to him? What did he think about the CCDB?

he had the air totems and you can lock out the fork on those ones. i had the same ones on my glory8. he climbed mt keria road from the takeaway shop to the drop off point on it.
he couldnt stop raving on about how good the CCDB was, he said some guy from Cane Creek by the name of Malcolm something or rather was excellent in helping him set it up. no complaints from him about it.

Cool. I never had much luck with Malcolm. Some guys seem to love him and others don't. It is a brilliant shock. Maybe i'm too used to the better performance of the DW link Firebird than what the VPP2 Nomad could offer?:)

It's a good way to keep the costs down. Use a Blur front end with a simple single pivot rear.

Possibly a 6" travel version as well?
