It kills me to do this. This bike is great and I'd love to keep it, but it is not what I need in a bike anymore.
For sale: SURLY KARATE MONKEY 18" To suit 5'9-6'2
Year: 2009. Originally purchased one in late 2007, was stolen. There was never any question that I would replace with same. I got this in Jan. 2009 and it sat in a box at my parents house while I was overseas. Literally 4 months of riding on this.
Size: Medium (18" TT I think)
Condition: Mechanically better than new, cosmetically good (Rubbing on crank arms, odd scratch in paint) never crashed.
Price and price conditions: $1200 firm + Shipping. RRP around $2000-2200

Includes Thomson seatpost, WTB Rocket V (have many saddles though, you can choose), Oury grips, Jetblack BB (so smooth), Spare shimano 18t freewheel (new in packet) spare chain cut to length (new in packet w/ powerlink). Will strip down and rebuild prior to shipping w/ new brake pads. Just had new bearings in front hub.
This is such a fun bike. I smile everytime I ride it. Only reason I am selling is because I want gears and suspension so I can hang with riders at the pointy end of things.
Bike has a hanger so you can run gears, as well as disc and v-brake mounts. Can be built up in many different ways. Happy to talk about swapping out parts from my spares box.
