I'm going to be building up a hardtail and i have a spare unused SRAM X9 Rear Mech (Med cage) which i would like to install on it. The Chainset is a double ring Truvativ Firex (not sure how many teeth but it's not huge).

Can anyone foresee any problems with using a medium cage over a long cage, i'm guessing it should be OK to access all gears?

nope, in fact it is better to use a medium cage for your application. Stronger chain tension, quieter, less bouncing around, and slightly crispier shifts due to a stiffer cage.

I think there's a thread covering this somewhere.
