So i been looking around at a few bikes and today i saw well heard then saw a hyosung gt650r and i really started to lean towards this bike...

I did have a look into the honda RVF 400, and a bike i saw in the city the other day... a megelli 250R.

i know that you can derestrict the carby versions of the hyo but is it worth getting a more recent model for the fuel injection? and pay $$$ to get it unrestricted when im on my fulls?

The Hyos are good, I had a 250r it was a great bike to ride. Slow as a turtle with a broken leg though, but its a 250 thats what you get.

The 650 would be great IMO, only reason I didn't opt for it was once you go over 330cc, your rego and all that crap goes up to rpetty much the same price as a car.

Just get the injected model aswell, not only are they injected theyre a better looking model aswell.

I wouldn't bother with the 650, as stated it has high rego costs, then if you un restrict it, it's not a great bike considering all the other not lams bikes out there, I would buy something cheap for your LAMS period and they upgrade to a bike you really want when the time comes.

as for lams I'd be looking at the following in no particular order RVF400, CBR250, NSR150SP, RS125, VTR250, CB400,

If you were going to consider a 2-stroke such as the rs125, look into the Cagiva Mito Sp525 (125cc 2-stoke, the 5 comes from there gp bikes), de-restricted they pump out about 38hp, which is pretty impressive. There a great little bike.

I can't comment on the 650 Hyos or any of the rego/LAMS stuff, but I had a GT250R for a couple of years and it never missed a trick.

I put a shitload of kilometres on that thing, too. Lots of trips up into the Black Spur, daily riding to-and-from work, etc.

injected Hyosung 650s sounds awesome, although bigger/more power is not always better.

i would try and ride a few options, RVF 400, CB 400, GT650r and one of the smaller 2stokes. they will all have different power delivery......find out what you enjoy the most. they're all good looking bikes.

Magelli 250R is a single with twin ports (LiFan motors) i think. i dont know how big this company is and if parts would be easy to get not like the RVFs and the Hyos.

I would not spend too much money if you're only learning. i still ride my old 650cc cafe racer thats learner legal and enjoy every minute of it.
