26-09-10, 12:26 PM
they reckon they are making 2 geos in the future... aero style and a more relaxed geo - this is more aggressive so maybe its aggressive and super aggressive.

I saw the green/white in person the other day and it is PORN

TOU93
26-09-10, 12:34 PM
The new geo is going to be crazy, the old one, for me, is aggressive enough! from what i read somewhere they are keeping one the same as our bikes and making a more aggressive geo bike(the one above).

The green is much nicer in person in the sun than photos can show. Mine has a few scratches on the top tube now from some careless person who locked their bike next to mine in a bike rack. :( I almost cried

So I bought this off Lorday a couple of months ago and have been loving riding it ever since. It's an awesome bike, absolutely puts a smile on my face every time.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/5050070275_564b46beef_b.jpg

Only mods so far are putting on Ultegra fronts (the bike didn't have any brakes at all), Odyssey pedals (again, Lorday didn't include any, thanks mate :P) and a Charge Knife saddle to replace the really heavy and really uncomfortable San Marco OEM one. The Knife is amazing....I've got a Charge Spoon on the duallie and know that Charge saddles and my arse go together well. It's only 200g too....double win.

Placing an order tomorrow for a new fixed gear bike. Actually parts only and I need to build the wheels and a bit of machining / welding etc. Should be landed just after xmas. I have a 28" inseam so I'm building a 48" bike. Castings, rims, spokes, fork blades, backbone etc are from www.hiwheel.com. I have container space available out of LA on the 9th of Dec so that made the shipping pi## easy. I will have to machine the crank bearing caps and headset, build the wheels (spokes all sized) fit the tyres, make the bars and lots more but should be great fun to build. Boxed, a complete bike is .5 cubic mtr, container space is about $370au / cubic mtr so I think there is a complete bike coming as well for a guy in the Hunter valley.

Wow, how exciting! Have you ridden them much before?

I would love to know a ball park of how much this is all costing you... Although totally understand if you would prefer not to reveal such information. Your post comes at such a coincidental time for me as I was researching Penny bits and peices this week and dreaming of moving to QLD just so I could do a Penny building course they offer at TAFE! I would have NO idea where to start, but would love to have a bike. I have quite a short inseam so getting it small enough for me to ride but big enough for it to have an ok top speed would be a bit of a challenge.

$1400us for all parts and shipping I think, still need the final costing from supplier. Hiwheel.com (www.hiwheel.com) have various models, the model I'm building is quite close to the original design. There is an original for sale in NZ at the moment http://www.trademe.co.nz/Antiques-collectables/Automotive-transport/Other/auction-330101142.htm

Yeah SA 3 speed...now that would be cool. Maybe the next one will be a carbon fibre geared.................

Probably hasn't been touched since winning the race? I wonder if track cyclists have enough power to stretch chains or Pull wheels into the dropouts...

Love that classic Italian colorway though.

Tokyo Drifter
14-01-11, 09:54 PM
nope. no human has enough power to break a chain. it is always the result of damage, improper installation, or manufacturing error.

Nor can they pull a wheel into the dropouts. Chris Hoy don't need no stinkin' chain tensioners.

Same goes for stripped threads. Chris Hoy types are all on DA/Campag/Mavic hubs. People who strip hubs do so because they don't keep their lockrings tight. Lockrings come loose from popping skids. Breaking shit is not 'core, it just means you can't look after your stuff.

Initial thoughts for these are Bicycle Drifting and "Chopped Tops" (kinda like the chopped Civics from Signal Japan).

Bike really looks good and has the "traditional" fist full of seatpost measurement as opposed to "more seatpost for aggression" measurement (which I fell victim to before my knee started to hurt).

Cannondale tracks would be a nice bike if it wasn't for the rear drop-outs, looks like the designers forgot to put them on in there initial plans then the machinist decided just to weld some out the back. I wouldn't say no if someone wanted to give me one though.

hmm good bikes.. Actually I always prefer the beautiful and unique bikes and I found here many beautiful bikes, I guess guys you have a good taste in bikes. I find some bikes here which are really nice and unique.. I think some of them are modified and some are manufacturer build. But Guys overall I love the thread. Does anybody see this bike in original?

I love the new gold rims fixie there, maybe with a gold seat post too, will make it looks better. On a black frame.

Would anyone ride a fixie style track frame, if it had internal hub gears? that way it would still look like the vintage fixie style, but give you better usability with the gears. And they would be hidden inside the rear hub, so it would be invisible.

Black and gold is the colour combination of kings.

Reminds me of the John Player Special sponsored F1 cars and BMWs.

hehe yeah, i actually saw a black and gold fixie down at Balmain, in Sydney. Looked very flashy, suits the area too......Balmain Tigers colours there hehe. That would be a good idea, having footy team fixie colours.

Building a track frame with an internal geared hub and trying to pass it off as fixie is pretty lame. Plus you're not fooling anyone with the hub, shifter cable and shifter!

However a modern bike like this 29er with belt drive and disc brakes is all kinds of cool to me. To me its like a good hot rod. It has a great element of timeless vintage style and clean stripped back lines to it, but is completely up front that its a modern bike and meant to be ridden and be fast and reliable at the same time, in a way no 'proper' vintage bike could be. Best of both worlds and I'd own one in a heartbeat.
