I've been doing lots of commuting these days on the bike and I'm thinking of getting a bike mirror. They look quite dorky, but they make a lot of sense to me!

A bit of research on the net reveals that the choice is either handlebar mounts or helmet/glasses mounts. Other forums seem to indicate that helmet/glasses mounts are the best (but ugliest)... I've never seen one on anyone in Australia.

Does anyone have any experience with bike mirrors?

I dont think they are all that expensive so may just be worth grabbing and trying for yourself and work out what works best.

I see them every so often on more cautious looking riders and they look to work a treat; if you can deal with the dork factor or can't confident in turning around.

Topeak is a brand that i think does some of this stuff. I'd try searching for their gear. I've thought about mirrors in the past, but so far i've been able to hear traffic coming. One of the best skills you can learn as well, is turning your head and maintaining a straight line while riding. It takes a bit of practice and i can turn my head right better than i can left and hold a line.

Thanks for the comments. Seems like not many people on this thread are into mirrors?

I guess I'll try and improve my looking back technique...
