Hi,

Is anyone keen to do a long training ride at loftus sometime on the 11/12th or 18th April.

I'm thinking of trying for 6 laps i.e. 6hrs in the saddle and 100km. This would be a simulation ride for dirtworks i.e. setup exactly as per the race with food and full kit etc.

People could come and go when they please, just picking up the group as they come past the carpark. Those doing the 50km ride could just slot in with the group.

Its good to have an idea of what the ride will feel like and to work on your nutrition before the big day. Kind of like a shake down run.

Would be good to start early i.e. 6:30am.

Any takers?

Ive been doing training rides in and around loftus for a few months now...

We have been doing a lap or or of loftus proper and then heading to heathcoate and doing the tracks over there just to avoid the monotony of Loftus.. I basically got to Heathcoate and turned around ended up doing 40kms with a few extra single track laps...

Not saying this is a bad idea, just giving options for the ride... The guys I was riding with did around 90kms in a similar manner, although they road down to helensburgh and back :P

I've been doing my Dirtworks training out at Loftus too.

Heading down the bitumen to Lady Carrington Drive, then grinding out via Waterfall to return via Heathcote is always fun :-)
