OK so I signed up to ANOTHER forum.

What is this site? Who is it for? Why is it different?

I'm a veteran of MTBing for too many years modmin on Farkin (f#ck knows why), a passionate trail advocate who has been known to lobby councillors into submission to get funding for trails. Somehow this meant I started writing for magazines which strangely led me to podcastsing about MTBs. It seems a bit gross to plug my show first post so I'll settle in a bit first.

Here is what? I can't see anything?

Can the bill of human rights include a standardisation on web forum layouts?

No, not as far as designers go. Subtlety is where it's at. Even if it’s hidden more the subtle.

OK,
If you want to check out my podcast there are several ways to do it:

Through iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=262797299

Via www.rotorburn.com forum: http://www.farkin.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=180

Or sticking it in your rss reader (or your browser might be able to handle it as well): http://podcast.crankin.com.au/themtbshow.xml

Yeah love the show and podcast all eps. Also gave you some of the first fdback on iTunes (twas all good). Actually I was going to MSG you on farkin but seeing as you are here. The Sam hill eps to me were are great wrap however big props to your interviewing skills as from a listener it seems getting words other than "yeah" and "nah" was like getting blood out of stone. You had to pry the words out but ended up being great result.

oh mr scratchy

i too have discussed the issue before that the BMU's Css (http://www.w3schools.com/Css/default.asp) does not fulfill my personal
expectation nor that of the general populations of underlines as a defined
norm functionality specs for prompting the user to click on what would be
defined as a hyperlink. rant-a-thon over [the mac gamma suck's justin]

now to go back and address your original questions
What is this site? Who is it for? Why is it different?

from my personal understanding of what is BMU i will answer
What is this site?
BMU is a group of people who like ride bicycles.
what that is, is pretty much up to you.

Who is it for?
it is for anyone / everyone. but definitely skewed towards people who like to pedal.
if you don't ride a bike you will not be hated here, but pier pressure to purchase a
bike cannot be ruled out, so be prepared.

Why is it different?
that question back at you... is it different to what?. everything is different.
so yes it is different. it is BMU

IMHO - or should i say for me personally...
BMU exists as its own identity in the online space and allows like minded people
to engage with each other in a environment we strive to be positive, pro-active,
helpful and enlightening.

the current focus [for moire] is to meet others, share knowledge, and to simply
exchange story's and enjoy what we have in common as a hobby / passion / lifestyle.
whether that be a roadie or a commuter, a canadian [aboot] or a kiwi [bro], those specific
segregations are irrelevant. just wear a helmet

having said that, BMU could be seen as different as there is a level of
transparency to its members. i guess that is best explained by way of people
at BMU aren't solely avatars and log-in names, many of us have met up which
quite often can change the dynamics of a "site" such as BMU.

/////

so scratchy, well come to BMU, and keep those Farkin awesome podcasts (http://farkin.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=180) flowing.
i for one kinda live off them...
&
... enduro magazine
... the pain of a good hill climb
... my next race
... weather forecast's
... upgrades
... training [base]
... shimano
... oh shit ... family - wife - kids - dog - cat
... twitter
... and riding with friends - which is quite upsettingly infrequent

ps [gross] - if you can't promote yourself... who can you promote?
