FWIW, I ended up finding some old Shimano 600 hubs on ebay then got hold of some Velocity Dyad rims and spoked to suit. Laced myself and got a LBS to do the final tensioning.

Quick 12km sprint to the beach and back. ~30 degrees and bloody humid.

When I'm not riding the Reign, I get around on an older Giant Hardtail, built with a mixture of light weight spare and new parts, rigid forks, slicks etc. I use it for longer bike path/road rides...
