I'm really happy with it. Compared to the aluminium framed Fuji it's much lighter, but i'm running much better parts as well. The frame is nicely done. I haven't noticed any manufacturing issues yet. It's got about 4000km on it now. It's stiffer than the old Fuji, but at the same time is more comfortable and 100km rides end without me feeling beat up.

The only downside i reckon is it looks fairly traditional for a carbon frame.

Oh wow! It's been said before, but kudos to you for having a go at making your own frames!

I'm thinking about a new bike before we buy a new house because i probably won't be able to get one once we've got the house.

What do you guys think of this build? What would you change, especially the guys that have seen me ride, is it over the top or not burly enough?

Frame: 2009 SC Nomad with Monarch rear shock, possibly switch to the CCDB on my current Nomad if i don't like the Monarch
Fork: Magura Wotan or RS Lyrik 2 Step or Solo Air
    Brakes: Shimano Saint or XT
    Wheelset: 2009 Mavic Crossmax SX
    Headset: Cane Creek 110
Seat: Fizik Gobi or SDG Bel Air
Seat Post: Control Tech scandium or Thompson Masterpiece
    Shifters: Sram XO
    Rear Derailleur: Sram X9
    Front Derailleur: Shimano XTR
Cranks/bb: Shimano XTR (with 24-36 rings and bash ring off current RF Atlas)
    Pedals: Time Alium
Tyres: Continental Rubber Queen 2.4" UST
    Stem: Thompson X4
    Handlebars: Sunline V1
    Chain: XTR
    Cassette: Shimano XT 11-34
    Grips: Oury lock on

Once i've got this sorted i'll sell the current Nomad with either the CCDB or the Fox DHXC on it.

So what do you guys reckon? What would you change and why?

Everything looks fine.. only thing I can see abit out of place are the cranks.. maybe XT's?
Also have you considered Fox forks too?

If i went for cranks other than XTR i'd probably have a look at Saints or RF Atlas. Having had another look i could go to XTs quite easily now based on weight versus price difference over XTR.

Fox 36 Talas forks could be good.

What about a Banshee Rune or Pivot Firebird frame? Has anyone heard much about either of them? Scrap the Rune and Firebird. I'll go for the Nomad.

cant really fault a build like that, once u have been buying so many bikes and riding so much you generally have a pretty darn good idea of exactly what works for you.

RF cranks can take a beating and they arent that heavy either. I run Atlas on my yeti and have taken a few good blows and they are still straight. From memory they were very close to weight of XT's.

With the forks, i would definately go with the lyrics 2 step...im not a fan of the fox 36 talas, kind wish i went with my gut instinct at the time. The talas system is known for failing to adjust. ive still gotta get mine sent off to get sorted out. ive ridden a mates Lyrics and they were as plush as my Totems but i could still climb with them.

the sunline bars are awesome! but dont forget to cut them down if you like your single track . I ran mine at 710 for a while and it got really annoying and slow through the tight stuff not to mention the amount of tree vs me encounter! They are also pretty light for an alloy bar, even lighter more so when you cut them down
