    Default Here we go again!

    I was fortunate to be offered an old road bike, in reasonable condition, as a freebie!
    It's a Repco Superlite, with a large size frame, Sugino GT crank set, Suntour Deralieurs, Dia comp brakes and a big pooffy, soft seat.
    I dont really need another bike (Got 5 that I ride regularly, now!), so my plans for this one is a re-build with minimal parts changed. A re-spray in White and polish up of all things alloy, and then try to convince my older son to ride it with me in this years Gong Ride........

    Here's the pics;

    Hey!.......I just had a closer look at the rims. I thought they were 700c as they had presta valves when I stripped the (very perished) tires off them.
    They are actually 27" x 1 1/4"!!

    I expect that 700c tires wont fit, so what are my options here??

    Are there any decent 27" tires around these days?? - I want to put reasonably high pressure in there for speed.

    Update;

    The frame is now white - clear coat should go on today if the temperature gets high enough.

    The front wheel has been re-built - My first go at lacing a wheel!....not as difficult as I thought!

    Got some 27" x 1 1/4" tyres at Durban Cycles - look pretty chunky, but old school gum walls keep it looking original.

    After a few, really hectic months at work, I finally got around to finishing this sucker off.

    It has had its moments, thats for sure!

    Was dissapointed with the paint finish but it presents well now its all finished. The San Marco saddle I bought just didnt work with the white frame so I had to re-address my colour scheme.

    Overall, I am quite happy with the re-build. It now belongs to my step-son, who hasn't really done any (road) riding before, and has never ever ridden with clip-in pedals (could be interesting!!)

    Check out the pics -
