    bit of a dig but saris do some pretty sweet products for this, there prices in aus have come down alot to. Sure you could build it yourself for a lot cheaper if you just got the fork mounts.

    they also do this sweet hydraulic ram for styleside utes so you don't have to drill holes a mates got it in his xr6 works a treat.

    Hey Wilko,
    How does the ute rack attach to the inside of the tray? (cant tell from the photo)
    I'm looking at making, almost the same set-up for my Hilux, atm.
    The guy riding alone, going the other way.....

    It uses a hydraulic ram that when u flick the lever it pushes two rods up against each side of the tray to hold the rack in between the tray in compression. Only really works well in styleside utes.

    hydraulic or gas strut type? like a office chair?

    A gas strut would make sense, I were going make my own i would drill 2 locating holes in the tub liner each side of the bar so then it really cant move not sure about just the pressure holding it there
