Thread: ayups - low and high settings

Default ayups - low and high settings

does anyone have the newish high, low lights.
i am more curious about how low the low is
on the site the low looks almost identical to the high -
    which i call bullshit.

anyone have any that can describe the brightness level
change between the low and high?

this battery on low is more my question

still thinking about the scott 24hr. if the low is ok i could run this as 12hrs
on the bars then a full light system for the helmet.

That is how I run mine. The low setting is enough for the bars with and lasts longer as well.

not sure which lights you have but I upgraded my CREEs and new resistor which are much brighter (and power hungry as well)
    cheers

You can compare it with mine next time we catch up.

I have the upgraded kit and it IS brighter however as Pagey said, sucks the battery life faster too.

Yeah, IMO you can easily run the handle bar light on low to save power. Plus the helmet one if the one I run with full power and its pretty bright. One of them 6hr battery does the job quiet well.

i got my ayups upgraded just before the mont - i got the power upgrade and the led upgrade. i also bought 2x new 6hr batteries (the big ones) with the high/low/flash mode.

the low feels like the old light level pre-upgrade. the high is great.

personally, if i were you and i were going out to ride for 12-13hrs in the dark, i'd talk to my buddy churchward and borrow his lights + a couple of his batteries. with the hi-po upgrded lights you need 6x6hr batts and i think i can provide 4 of them

So how does your set up make a difference ?

is it just so it lasts all night without having to lug around extra batteries? or is there something in the depth perception while riding If you have your handle bar lights on low?

I was going to do the same Matt, but talking with a few people who are more experienced than I at this 24 hour thing - the more light you run through the night the less fatigued you become. That makes a lot of sense to me, so I'll be running my ayups on high! I have to buy another light set before then but it's going to work out cheaper to buy a whole new kit than get the light set + extra batteries. I'll probably have to do some borrowing as well.

right.....thank you orphic. You just answered my question.
I thought there was some magic Vodoo going on with different lighting techneques & you end up with better depth perception or something.

I've got a v4 kit if anyone needs to borrow it for the weekend, but I'll need it back by the Monday night I think.
