Mate, I feel your pain. I live just behind the Supa Centa, and it takes me 3 hours on occasion to go the 28km to the track!

Were you there this past friday night? I did see a grey bike with purple wheels, it looked very nice.

I think we all rode pretty good Friday night. I stupidly spent all my energy in the warm-up scratch because I felt good. Never before have I gone from two laps out, I was just trying to set the cat amongst the pigeons so the bunch would chase me and my club mates would get an easy ride. It turns out the three kicks I had to give in the last 150 metres took way too much out of me and I was pretty much done for the rest of the evening.

I won the 2 lapper but all others I was in the mix for the first while but I run out of energy and get dropped. I need to work on doing more laps at a practice meet and improve. Still great fun and was awesome watching everyone else's close racing

Everyone should have arch support so high that it's uncomfortable to stand in, because when you ride it stops your knees from bowing in.

I have found Lake to be the widest in the toe box area. They felt like shoes I'd been wearing for years when I first put them on.
I am between 44 and 46 depending on brands.
Arches are fine. Bridge is the middle top of the foot. Think its called the bridge anyway.

Dude, just eat shitloads of food 2 hours before racing and you'll be good to go. Heavy solids mixed with some light low GI stuff. If you're vegan I can't help too much but there is heaps out there on the googles to give you some direction.
What gear are you running now? Winning your 2 lapper is impressive, well done! What you will find is the endurance races will improve for you but it will take time and hard work. You'd really need a road bike to get serious, but thats probably a ways off yet.

Thanks dude, road bike will be coming in the next few months, gearing is 48/13, but I reckon I could push more pretty easily, but most people seem to run 50/14.

Will try and smash some brown rice before i head out next time for fuel.

It's not easy on the track; It may only be 10 or 12 laps, but you're into the red zone quickly your energy is going to go unless you're used to being in that stress for a long time. This will happen to anyone.

The only way to get better at that, is, well, being in the red zone for longer and making sure that you're fueled to begin with. The more you do it, the more you'll be able to go for longer. I'm not saying that it's not going to hurt, cause it will. It hurts regardless. Yet as you've seen, hurting and winning kinda feels really good in the end.

    This week’s Races
    • Round 1 warm up Scratch
    • Round 2 no race this week
    • 1 ? lap screamers (5 riders 1.5 laps)
    • Round 4 Point’a’Lap
    • Round 5 Combines

    Explain these races
1.5 lap Screamers-– Riders draw lots to start in position 1-5 up the track. The riders start in a Time trial hold (No-Push) for whistle start on the pursuiters line in back straight. First one to complete 1 1/2 wins. Easy.

Point'a'Lap- The race is run similar to a point score-however each lap is a sprint for first place only and worth one point. The overall winner is the rider with the most points.

Fuck me! Thats way too high man. Most A graders wouldnt be running gears that hard. 48-14 would be great for you. Learn to spin the legs faster, this is where the speed comes from.
    See yas there!
