Default Bike shop im Bondi Juntion Westfield

Fark. Freak me out. Bloody gutsy move if you ask me.

But no doubt I'll be checking it out today at lunch.....

A retail business. That sells bicycles? Also has some accessories & perhaps even a workshop to repair bikes.

I asked because 'bike shops' in shopping centre aren't new, and theyve proven to be pretty rubbish. What brands were they stocking?

Bianchi , Merida a few others.

Westfield Bondi Junction is one of their premier locations. Rents would be astronomical. I know the shop I work In is in the vicinity of $200k pa theirs is about the same. It turns out its a satellite store from a shop they have down the road.

I still think its a very gutsy move. I don't recall any bike shop in any Westfield ever.

Having a shop in a Westfield as opposed to one on Street level is a totally different game. I admit I know nothing about the bike shop industry. But I've worked in the retail industry for the past 25 years.
Never know though. The shop fit looks like it cost them very little but It looks clean. Retail what it is & Internet . I think it's a very gutsy move. But then people in a Westfield are ready to spend. Might just work in thier favour.

I saw this last week when they still had the "coming soon" signs up. I thought they called it a "concept" store?

They have a bigger shop outside Westfield so I hope they are making enough to cover the rent for both shops ... Heheh

So let's jus assume the brave move pays off.
Westfield Bondi Junction is about 6 mths ahead of the rest of the pack. What happens there at a Westfield B. J. happens in the rest of Australia ....6 mths later.

So is it a sign of things to come as far as the LBS has to deal with? Does the LBS now have something else to deal with. Sure it's a different ball game. A different market.
But If this is a trend that will mean that you will start having trendy bike shops in West-field's.
Eventually Franchising will take over. Service goes down the tube. So does choice.
It may not work like Nat suggested & in 5 mths. An empty shop.
    Discuss.
