I took delivery of my Strida last night. I actually ordered a black one but Jing changed his mind on buying his one so I took his white one.
I'm going to take it apart soon and figure out if I can convert it into a fixed gear. I'd like to ditch the cranks, belt and belt drive and replace it with a huge chainring up front, single speed chain and a fixed cog at the rear. I'd then remove the brake levers, calipers and rotors too. The BB is eccentric, very cool to tension out the chain! The crankset is square taper but I'm not sure about the rear hub and whether or not I can get a fixed cog on there. I'm sure there's a way. I started stripped a few things off it, just to weight it all up. Strida complete: 9.78kg Bell (very cute!) - 16g Rack with refelctor - 278g Fenders - 108g Grips -160g Bar end plugs -13g Velo Saddle - 471g I took all this off and replaced some parts with stuff I had lying around. Titec foam grips - 17g Titec end caps - 4g Cycle King Carbon saddle - 94g Now for some pics: ![]() Dead stock. ![]() Nice internal cable routing. And again, cables routed through the stem. ![]() Eccentric BB! Adjustable so that you can tension the belt drive (and in future, my single speed chain!) so awesome. ![]() The stuff I took off. The grips were harder to get off than any other grips I've ever needed to take off. A Strida pdf manual online suggested removing them with wondow cleaner. I sprayed some on the edges, twisted them at both ends and they eventually slid off! I'll be using window cleaner from now on when removing non-lock on grips! ![]() Titec Pork Rings, at 17g a pair, the world lightest grips?! ![]() I had this on the wall, knew it would come in handy one day! ![]() CF goodness! ![]() BMU RPRSNT! ![]() 888! Asians take note! ![]() Full bike shot. |

you can at least lose one of the brakes while you waiting for a fixed solution... any chance of providing the feedback back to strida to produce a lighter weight fixed version...

Sorry to all the guys who bought one, but personally I think they look awful..
So my post isn't entirely pointless I might as well ask, is that seat actually any good? Comfort wise i mean.. I guess you aren't gonna be doing any epic rides on these things (or are you? ) but damn my arse feels sore just looking at it haha. What is the target weight for it? 7kgs? Should give it an awesome custom paintjob |
