Default 1997 Specialized Hardrock GX single speed

I just realised I haven't got a bike diary for this bike (the bike that got me back into biking early last year).

I started a diary thread over at Farkin in February last year. I'll post a few pics of it's life since being pulled out from under my house:

As she was under the house.

Frame blasted and powdercoated by Mr. Clean in padstow for $65.

Early days.

Weenie 9kg build.

Felix Alim shoot

As of today the Mary bars are back on the right way around (as opposed to upside down), clipless pedals are on and she's running fat Larsen TT 2.35's and ready for dirty work with some of you single speed lovers. My chain seems to have stretched a little and I might have to put a tensioner back on some time in the near future, she's OK for now though.

Ever since the Ti build was finished the Hardrock has been hanging there without parts (the fork went onto the Ti).

Inspired by Jarods new wheels + Jing's new VOODOO I thought I'd put a bit of love into the old Hardrock.

This park tool makes it a breeze to install headset cups. I took the King off and downgraded to a Cane Creek PRO.

Cut off the steerer. They're very short MOSSO forks, some of the lightest rigid forks on the market (if not the lightest), disc specific and apparently shocking to ride on (but hey they were ridiculously cheap off eBay!).

I hate installing star nuts, this one went in straight though phew.

Done. All up 11.04KG. Can't believe it was 9kg once upon a time. I blame the weight on this ridiculously heavy wheelset + heavy tyres too.

I couldn't be stuffed sanding back the fork (it had really ugly sports shoe style graphics) so I just used a texta instead lol.

I might change the gold cable outers and grips to black soon. I'm sure I have stuff lying around, just got to find it all. Faster rear tyre would be good too. I have some Larsen TT's I can whack on.
