Process Approach to the Teaching of EFL Writing 115 language 1 as a natural means to set up their ideas when writing in L2. This phenomenon is positively regarded and corroborated by the findings of many L2 researchers (Cumming 1987, Lay 1982). These findings have implications for current EFL writing practitioners. The results of this study suggest that they are likely to see significant effects on EFL students’ writing performance when they provide the students with choice of selecting their own preferred topic for their writing.

In most cases, teaching writing to Arab EFL learners, in particular, and to students who had never been exposed to an Anglo-Saxon foreign language in general, is quite difficult and challenging especially when a teacher tries to incorporate culturally EFL learners in peer feedback outside the classroom (Chen, 2016). Due to the challenges and issues arising from face-to-face peer feedback in writing classes, including the EFL Arab context, the current study focused on EFL Arab undergraduate learners’ engagement in asynchronous peer feedback in a Facebook group.
